BOO from Baltimore

We have some of the most talented appliquers here at Little Quilts! Geri finished this “Baltimore Halloween” just in time for the holiday. The quilt was not only fun to applique, but will be fun to display!  You saw the top earlier, now it has been custom quilted.  Great!

No such thing as "Just A Triangle"

Libby brought in this beautiful scrappy quilt made totally from Half-Square Triangle blocks. We loved the old-timey reproduction look!

Santa Plus..

Remember the Santa Applique Block of the Month we did way back in 2009? Those old projects do get finished eventually! Cherie’s quilt is set differently from the original pattern – she actually made her Second Saturday Sampler blocks in Christmasy colors and used those for her alternate blocks. What a great idea!

Ah...youth

Courtney signed up for all our Children’s Classes this summer and used charm packs to make this cute wall hanging. In another of the classes she made a monogrammed pillow which she gave to her grandmother for signing her up for the classes!

Patriotic

We do love flags at Little Quilts so we were thrilled when Shelby brought this very patriotic quilt in to show us! Shelby purchased the kit for this project from Keepsake Quilting years ago.

Little Quilts - International

One of our customers, Jane, has a quilting pen pal, Maz, from Wales who sent pictures of two quilts she recently finished. The Nine-Patch quilt is a reproduction of one of Mary Ellen's antique quilts. The pattern for the antique quilt was published in American Patchwork and Quilting. Both quilts are intricately hand quilted.

Neutrals...

Saturday we enjoyed a book signing and quilt show extravaganza from the new book
“Spotlight on Neutrals” from That Patchwork Place by Pat Wys $24.95.  Pat is a local designer and author, including patterns from Silver Thimble Quilt Company. This is a marvelous book and will turn you on to neutrals. We are sold out but have placed a reorder. Call and reserve your copy.  Here are pictures of two quilts from the book. One is made using a brown floral toile which LQ has available.
The cute tote with birds on it in this photo is from a pattern by Pat

Leap Frog!

When she was just twelve years old, Danielle made her first quilt which won the “Best In Class” award at the Pigeon Forge Quilt Show and she’s been quilting ever since!

Her frog quilt (shown here front and back) won “Best In Class” at the Pigeon Forge Show and “Best In Show” at the Volusia County Fair (Florida) and the Suwanee Valley Quilt Show. She’s seventeen now and currently working on a “Twister” quilt and it looks like it will be a show-stopper, too! She was taught by her grandmother, but does all her own piecing and quilting. Mary Ellen was so impressed with her first quilt when she saw it at the Pigeon Forge show that she gave Danielle some fabric to start her next quilt and Danielle just wanted to stop by to show her what she had done with that fabric. We were all impressed!

Everything Old is New Again

Lucky little girl that’s receiving this Poky Little Puppy quilt from Susan! Susan designed her own pattern for the quilt and then hand quilted it with very cute little bone, paw and doggy patterns. I still remember that book as one of my favorites when I was little and also remember reading it over and over to my children – what a classic!

Something to get up for this Saturday...if Second Saturday Sampler wasn't enough...

Friendly reminder: this Saturday is the LQ Second Saturday Sampler Event 9:30- 11AM.
We’re so excited to be the very first store to have “Spotlight on Neutrals” by Pat Wys. You’re probably familiar with Silver Thimble Quilt Company and the wonderful patterns she’s designed. This is Pat’s first book for Martingale & Co. Pat will be here Saturday Oct 8 from 10-12 for a Trunk Show and book signing. Here are two of her quilts along with the box of books as they arrived. She’s bringing all the quilts from the book; but they will be leaving with her at noon to get ready to go to Quilt Market in Houston. She will have many of her new patterns and some favorites with her...Comfort and Joy, Emily Jayne, Friendship Crossing and fun project bags.  Of course, we have the patterns for all available.
The book is beautiful with great projects for all skill levels…but the quilts are even more beautiful in person. We’re soooo proud of her!

Pieced Quilts are favorites

Vicki stopped by to show us two wonderful quilts she made. One is from the book “40 Fabulous Quick Cut Quilts”. (Available at LQ)  I love it with all the great homespuns and neutral colors.

The other one is from a pattern by Silver Thimble Quilts Co. called Strawberry Pie (available at LQ). How different it looks in the browns, tans and teals. You can hardly recognize it as the same pattern. Good job!
