Dear Jane morphs into a T shirt quilt

Amanda brought in a T-shirt quilt she made using the left-over fabrics from her Dear Jane quilt. Look closely and you’ll see that the cornerstones are actually 3” Dear Jane blocks! Amanda aptly named this quilt “A Tribute To Jane”.

Quilts Are a One of a Kind Gift

We had lots of good show & tell a week ago Friday. Jan brought in a quilt that will be a gift for her son. I hope you can see the quilting on this quilt – it’s beautifully hand quilted! It’s called Greg’s Life Quilt as each block depicts a part of his life from birth to the day he got married. What a treasure!

First Quilt - Really?

We were so impressed to see this quilt made by Linsey as her FIRST quilt.  A gift for a relative who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Yes!  She is a true quilter already.

Baltimore Album Beauties

Paula came by and showed us her Baltimore Album quilt that is in progress. She started the quilt in Wanda's Beginning Baltimore class and she is now in the Advanced class. She is going to leave this one a small one and then start on a more advanced one. The close up of one of the blocks is to show her skill at inking which was taught in the advanced class. A real beauty, Paula.

Garden Club Quilt - Deja Vu

Isn't this quilt FANTASTIC!?  I share with your as I choke up.  This quilt was presented to me as a surprise today.  I made it as a block of the month quilt in 2000 and at the end of the program it was stolen.  That wounded many of us.  I don't DO applique and yet this quilt inspired me to go for it.  We couldn't believe any quilter would steal such a top and be able to enjoy it.  Garden Club Part Deux, has been a secret project from 17!! LQ friends to heal what was wounded.  YOU BET IT DID!  What a loving place to work. The quilt pattern is out of print by Country Threads.  Forgive my self indulgence putting something so personal on the blog but I thought you would like to see the quilt and know what a great shop you  frequent.

Santa's Workshop

When Mary Ellen, Kathie and Muriel got back from Quilt Market, they were so jazzed up about new ideas and techniques that they wanted to share them right away.  Thus was born the idea of Santa's Workshop.  From 10AM - 4:30PM you will make items for holiday decorating or gift giving.  You will learn new ideas from Quilt Market and meet several of the LQ teaching staff.  The day will include SIX! different projects and lunch.  There are two workshops and each one includes different projects and teachers.  You could come for both and not make the same thing twice.  $50, either workshop.  Space is limited.  Sign up now.  Tues. Nov. 30th or Sat. Dec. 4th.  More details at the LQ homepage.
You will make table runners, purses, mug mats, ornaments and more. HoHoHo

Scrap Quilt Show and Tell from a Little Quilt's Anniversary Kit

Since we are celebrating our 12 anniversary Jeanne thought it would be fun to show this quilt. The quilt she made was from a kit at our 4th anniversary. The kit contained 2” x 4” rectangles of all the fabrics that we had in the store at that time. Well Jeanne added a few of her own and made this giant quilt. Impressive!

Show and Tell From November Second Saturday Sampler - part one.

Sandra made her jacket from left-overs from a black & white quilt she made.  Left-overs?  Really?!
Jerri finally finished her Sat. Sampler quilt from several years ago, but finished is good!

This is a great idea to make a quilt memory from a souvenir.  The center is a tea towel.  Who knew?!

Go Green!

We have some of the most creative customers! Annette stopped by and showed us this cute handbag that she made by crocheting strips she cut from Publix plastic bags! She cut the bags into double layer strips, knotted the strips together, and rolled them into big balls. Then it’s just a matter of single crochet! Very cute, very creative, and VERY Green!

Deck The Halls...

Here is a view of "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas" at Little Quilts.  We have an angel tree, a bear tree and a knit items tree.  Glittery snowmen and plaid reindeer add more holiday flair.

Charitable Giving: Small Cuddly Quilts

Suzanne makes small quilts and donates to the Tiny Stitches Charity. A group that makes blankets and clothes for newborns in rural areas. Suzanne made this quilt from our Whittier Crossing fabric line and used heads and legs from stuffed animals. How cute and cuddly is that!

A stunning project - combining embroidery and quilting

Judy was so proud when she finished ‘Over The River and through the Woods” by Crabapple Hill. It’s a great quilt with embroidery of the poem and Judy did all the patchwork in blacks, creams and tans. A stunning quilt.

T-shirt quilts - the best gifts

Amanda  shared with us a tee shirt quilt that she made for her Uncle Frank (he’s shown in the block on the top left side). He’s a huge baseball fan so she made this quilt for him and sashed it with lots of baseball fabrics. You can see her daughter Lisa on the left side. Lisa’s loves her Pokey Little Puppy quilt that her mom made her.

Stunning Medallion Quilt Show and Tell

Renee from Cleveland Tenn., stopped in recently to show us her progress on her quilt. She’s hand quilting it. It’s called “Savannah Medallion” from a Fons and Porter pattern. She purchased all the fabrics from us earlier in the year, and works on her hand quilting while she travels between Tennessee and Florida. It’s a beautiful quilt, and her hand quilting is stunning.
