Loving the Neutrals!

One of our out-of-town customers bought all the fabric to make this gorgeous Trip Around the World quilt during her last visit. She and her 85 year old mother, Clara, worked together on the quilt – Diane cut and Clara sewed – to make the quilt for their church raffle. It’s a queen sized quilt with over 2,000 tiny squares! SCORE on the  outer border! Such a great match.

Embroidery Ornaments

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...the elves are busy working away. Marshall shared his latest work on his new embroidery machine. These are meant to be coasters...we suggested they are better as ornaments and gift tags for that special someone. No coffee mug would sit on mine!

Another Second Saturday Sampler Show and Tell

Marvis is finishing this quilt for her daughter for Christmas. She used blocks from the 2011 Second Saturday Sampler and added a few heart blocks to make the quilt extra-special. Her daughter has seen the blocks in progress, but has no idea the quilt is for her – what a great surprise gift!

Infuse "you" into an existing pattern.

Amy, one of our new wool stitchers, loves to work in contemporary bright colors in both fabric and wool. She did her version of Sue Spargo's Winterberry Table Runner pattern. She used wool, silver and gold lame, as well as Kaffee Fassett and other bright fabrics. She plans to do 'big stitch' for her quilting of her contemporary versions of this traditional design. We love it. The pattern is back in stock with plenty of time to make it for your holiday table!

One Good Deed....

Quilters do great things! Fran, one of our teachers made this quilt for an event at her golf course. It was a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society and this quilt was auctioned off for $600. Quilts are always good to make and donate for a fund raiser at your schools or churches.

Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine recently did a poll of readers to see how many did charitable projects.  Here is a list of some of their charities and projects that their readers sew for.

Here's a list of charities you said you donate your time, talent and work. Most Popular were:
American Cancer Society

Today is National American Teddy Bear Day

For a quilt shop, we certainly embrace our inner cuddly side.  The teddy bear has graced the covers of Little Quilts patterns and helped deliver pattern instructions in their books.

Here is a photo of our Christmas decor with new bears to take home to your house.

Famous Judys

There is Judy Garland, Punch and Judy, Judy Carne, Judy Collins... sure they are famous but there is no Judy more famous to a quilter, than Judie Rothermel.  The countdown to her arrival at Little Quilts is 2 days! Friday she will visit Little Quilts as our reward for having the most entries in her 25th anniversary contest with Marcus Fabrics.
She will have some SERIOUS eye candy for us.  She has sent some Judy hand pieced and quilted quilts from her private collection.  Below is a photo preview! We’ll also have some of the quilts from the LQ contest entries.   Quite the show!

She is a fan of handquilting and reproduction genre quilts.  If you have any show and tell, come to our Meet and Greet Judie this Friday between 2PM and 5PM.  Her fabrics have been the "go to" line for the Civil War Block of the Month series that LQ has offered since the first one.  If you have one of these beauties, do bring it.  We can't get enough.

Another Completed Saturday Sampler Show and Tell

Dagmar recently finished this quilt for her daughter who’s house is decorated in tans and taupes and neutrals….definitely the colors of today. She made it with the alternate quilt blocks from a Saturday Sampler series a few years ago. She brought it in and we had one of our long arm quilters finish it for her.
