God Yul
Because of her Scandanavian heritage, teacher Anne Anderberg loves this “Scandanavian Stitches” book by Kajsa Wikman. Each year Anne makes 42 ornaments for all her family. Last year when the book came out she made the little Scandanavian dolls. This year she made the birds (also from the book). Anne starts right after Halloween to get all those ornaments made – a real labor of love!

A Merry Prairie Christmas
The Prairie Women’s Sewing Circle really got into the spirit of a prairie Christmas this month. Stepping back into a simpler time, they decorated this tree with fabric ornaments, brown paper doll garlands and popcorn and berry garlands. And what a great idea for gift wrap! Our Prairie Women’s group is always open to new members – we’re starting Journey 3 in January (5th, 2012) if you’d like to you’d like to join us!

Second Saturday Sampler Show and Tell - tabletoppers
Table toppers were a popular show and tell at our Second Saturday Block of the Month this month. Jean used Little Quilt kits to make her wool appliqué candle mats. The Ten Minute table runner and circle table mat made by C.K. are very quick and easy. What a great way to add a splash of color to your holiday tables!
Flannel pj's and more
Barb made a quilt for her great grandbaby using our flannel Row-by-Row kit and then bought more of the flannel to make a matching pillowcase and this darling sleeper! So cute! What a great Christmas gift.

Just the start of the Second Saturday Sampler Dec,. Show and Tell
It’s too busy at this time of the year to do much quilting, but a few people brought quilt tops today!
Beth saw our Twister demo and went right home to make this cute top from an old charm pack.
Marshall made this scrappy star from lots of blue and tan strips. He’s determined to use up all his strips so, while the top looks finished, it’s actually going to get a little larger!
Doris took part in our Americana Four-patch block swap several years ago and decided it was time to put her blocks into a quilt. She used the leftover blocks on the back.
Millie took Marty Young’s Improvisational Quilting class and made this cute curtain for her daughter’s dorm room!
Janice made some large log cabin star blocks that made a very cheerful quilt top.

Day 7: November 19th ~ Henry Glass Jolly Holiday Party
We’re really looking forward to our Twelve Days of Christmas event this year which begins on December 1st. Each day for twelve days we will feature a Daily Special sure to please any quilter. If you want the item, simply call the shop or e-mail us that day and say “Stuff my Stocking” and the item will be added to your bag. On day 13, just tell “Santa” to stop by the shop to pick up your bag and remind him that he may want to add a sewing machine or gift certificate to the bag! Maybe you’d like to have a stocking “stuffed” for a sewing or quilting friend - either way, it’s a lot of fun and you’ll love the special prices on all the items. Different items will be offered each day...books, notions, patterns, etc.

Need a fast and easy last minute gift idea? Who wouldn’t love getting this apron made from a tea towel with a cupcake oven mitt tucked in the pocket! Add a few recipe cards and maybe a wooden spoon or wire whip in the other side of the pocket and your gift is ready to go. To make the oven mitt even more heat resistant we used Insul-Bright which has a mylar barrier to reflect the heat. Kathie made this from the “Hot Cakes” pattern from our shop, and sent it as a ‘thank you gift’.
