See What's New at Little Quilts

This little wall hanging using the new Little Quilts fabric is called "New Twist on Sue"! Pattern for that and the little pillow below plus fabric are being sent out to all Little Quilts Sorority members: see the Little Quilts website for information.

Moda's "At Water's Edge" by the incredible Blackbird Designs has been flying out of the store; hurry in and make your selection from this wonderful line.
Little Quilt's immensely popular Second Saturday Sampler 2008 began this past Saturday. Don't forget to come in and get your first block kit, $6.00. Bring in your finished block each month (see website for details, oh, and don't forget to sign up for the regular newsletter if you aren't already) and receive the next month's block kit for free. The blocks you see above are the alternate colorways that are offered this year for the block: patriotic, batik, and Kaffe Meets Feedsack.

If you are doing the monthly Nutcracker applique patterns (mentioned in previous post), don't forget your teeth! Teeth kit above is available and will be enough for all of your little Nutcracker's teeth for the year.

There is so much more to tell you, but that's enough for this post! Check back for more news.

Little Quilts' Applique Block of the Month Begins: Nutcracker!

Our own Kathie West's sample above is on view in the shop. Patterns are $5.00 each and include a history about that particular Nutcracker and a recipe. The kit comes with the background, applique fabric, and pattern $10.00. There is an embellishment kit available for $10.95 that includes gold and silver floss, gold and black beads, a watch, coin, and key buttons. "Friends" Quilt and Cover Story Panels

One of our first patterns, and probably one of our favorites, “Friends”, has been reprinted (LQC3). The quilt shown is made with the “Sues” from our newest preprinted panel from Henry Glass fabrics. This quilt measures 16” x 22”. We’ve combined the patchwork made from coordinating fabrics from “Fun with Sue” and rather than appliqué each 5” block we cut out 6 blocks and framed it with patchwork.

See the Little Quilts website to order the pattern and the fabric.

Thimbleberries' Cover Story panels ($12 each) with coordinating fabrics are also available:

Christmas Is Coming to Little Quilts

Be sure to stop in at Little Quilts to see what has arrived with the Christmas season. There are wonderful ornaments, delightful primitive ones shown above on this particular tree, but there are more! Below and to the left is a wonderful quilt made from the book Positively Pineapple by Possibilities; the book is available in the store for $21.95. To the right is a quilt made from the book A Cozy Quilted Christmas: 17 Projects to Decorate Your Home. The book is available for $28.95; Little Quilts has also gotten kits together for you for $32.95. Little Quilts has just what you need to get in the holiday spirit.

This Little Quilts member of the monthly Wool Works class is showing her wonderful buttonholed wool pennies bedspread:

Isn't it stupendous?

It's amazing how much you can get done while riding in a car if you keep at it! Class members work on various wool projects of their own choosing. This particular wool pennies pattern is from the book Modern Primitive Quilts, which is available in the shop.

This charming book, Mother Earth and her Children (a quilted fairy tale), is also available in the shop (autographed copies) for $17.95. Written more than 100 years ago, this is a hardcover collectible, pass-down-for-generations type of book. It is an imaginative tale about Mother Earth and her children and what they do during each season. The illustrations are from the Houston Best of Show award-winning quilt. Lots to look at and talk about as you read along with a child.
