Trunk Show Arrives and Silver Thimble Class

Little Quilts is welcoming a wonderful new trunk show from Kim Diehl that features three divine quilts from her book of quilt patterns and recipes "Simple Seasons" ($29.95).

On the left above is Kim's Country Wedding Ring: wreaths of posies that encircle checkerboard blocks in cheerful country colors. On the right is Kim's Liberty table topper: celebrates the freedoms enjoyed by us all.

Quilt above is Duck Duck Goose: a scrappy lap quilt. The Simple Seasons book (pictured below) has 13 projects using simple patchwork and applique techniques, from full-size quilts to a doll quilt to a table runner and also includes favorite recipes. Be sure to stop in to see this great trunk show.

Aren't these yo-yo flowers perched on a picket fence irresistible? You can make this pattern from Silver Thimble (see below).

It's called "Pickets & Posies" and is the next Silver Thimble class at Little Quilts, Saturday, June 7th; see class descriptions via the link on the right. Spaces are still available in this class. If you cannot take the class, you may still purchase the pattern and kit (just look at that pretty color combination below in the kit! includes the rick rack too of course, see it peeking out?) for $52.95 (pattern is $8.50, kit is $46.95; class members get a 15% discount on kit).

What's New at Little Quilts

When you come into Little Quilts, be sure to see the sweetest example of hand embroidery that is behind the register (see below): Aunt Bea's Parlor. The sample is here from the designer, Judy Reynolds; pattern available at $15. The quilt measures 47x56" and has twenty 6" blocks; each block is a different basket design, each in multi-colored hand embroidery - so pretty and nostalgic.

Little Quilts has another sample from the book Better by the Dozen, by Susan Teegarden Dissmore ($24.95). Twelve blocks, twelve quilts, endless possibilities. Follow a block of the month format to make these gorgeous quilts at a pace that suits your schedule. There are interchangeable block frames as well. Also you will find tips for making each quilt as a block of the month project:

The new Summer Schedule is now online. The hard copy of the schedule will be in the shop within two weeks. One class for next session will be Pickets & Posies (see below) from the Silver Thimble Club. Saturday, June 7th, 10am -3pm, $30. Call or come in to Little Quilts to register.

Kathy Niemann and Barbara Barnes continue to treat Little Quilts Primitive Devotees with more Primitive Gatherings classes. As they say, it's two (fun and knowledgeable) teachers for the price of one :-). If you love primitive quilts, you must not miss these summer classes. The Watermelon Slices (see below) will be May 28th, 10am-12:30pm, $20, includes pattern:

Easter Goodies are 40% off both gifts and fabrics:

Little Quilts' Blockswappers: How to Set Those Blocks

Participants just completed the last exchange for the Reproduction Nine Patch Block Swap at Little Quilts. We've put together different layouts (above and see actual quilts below) using some or all of the blocks. Sizes range from throw size to full size quilts. Patterns could be suggested layouts for any 6" block. Patterns are $2 each.

Reproduction Nine Patch 85" x 85" - made by Kathie West. Kathie used her 72 blocks from the Block Swapper Exchange and made a few more to complete the quilt.

Nine Patch Strippy. Mary Ellen made this strippy 66" x 80" and used only 32 of the Nine Patch Blocks from The Reproduction Nine Patch Block Swap. She's planning to make the Nine Patch with Hour Glass Blocks with the remaining 30 Nine Patch Blocks. That quilt will be 72" x 84". Layout pattern (see above) available at Little Quilts.
