Holy Hexies Batman!

We keep following Allison’s progress on the king-size quilt she’s making with ¼” hexagons. (And, no, that is not a typo – they really are ¼”!) Allison will be doing a hexagon demo during shop hop if you’d like to see this block up close.

Strip Quilt Race Project

Doris and her amazing Jellyroll race quilt. This quilt uses just one jellyroll and goes together in just 45 minutes! If you get tangled up in your strips it may take just a few minutes longer.  So Dang Easy!
Here's an idea I just thought of... for a wedding quilt or a baby quilt, throw in a plain coloered strip with the date (and name on it)

Hand Quilting is Still "Alive"

The picture is a little blurry, but we see so few quilts that are hand quilted these days we just had to post this one. Rita finished the quilting while sitting under the pool table with a tornado flying overhead! The quilt will be hanging in the Bulloch Hall Quilt Show, March 9 – 17, 2013, so you can get a close up view of Rita’s beautiful quilting. Click here www.bhqg.org for more information about the upcoming quilt show.

Show and Tell from January Second Saturday Sampler

Susan never fails to bring a finished quilt top for Saturday Sampler Show and Tell. We all need to learn her secret for finishing projects!

Lori used her Saturday Sampler blocks from last year and combined them with House blocks to make a quilt for her son when he got married. For the label on the back of the quilt she made a large house and included a picture of her son and his wife in the windows, the wedding announcement for the door, and a “Marietta” block from Olde America Antiques vintage postcard designs on the roof since the newlyweds are living here in Marietta. Such a cute idea!

Finished Quilt tops using the Sampler Blocks of Second Saturday Sampler 2012 - pt 1

All the finished quilts debuted today at Second Saturday Sampler to a lot of ooh’s and ahh’s! This year everyone had a choice of making 12” or 6” reproduction blocks with the fabric that came in the kits. Wanda, who designed the series, set her blocks in a classic reproduction setting.

The smaller 6” blocks were set in a similar, but simpler setting.

Dena, who made all the contemporary alternate blocks this year, designed an original contemporary setting to showcase her blocks.

If you like the setting, but didn’t make the contemporary blocks, it will work equally well with reproduction fabrics as you can see from Chris’s quilt.

December Second Saturday Sampler - pt 3

Pam was so happy to finally turn last year’s six-inch 2nd Sat. Sampler blocks into a finished quilt. We loved the toile border!

Pam also brought a beautiful tulip quilt made with 30’s fabrics. The pattern came from a Mary Hickey book.

Second Saturday Sampler - Part 2

It was a cloudy, windy day for our December 2nd Saturday Sampler, but Susan’s contemporary quilt just lit up the parking lot! Bright and sunny…

Janette was so happy with the quilt top she received from her Bee group’s Round Robin project. Janette made the center block and her friends completed successive rounds.
