Oh dear. I got to thinking. Not only do I love Sue, but there's something about the log cabin block and how versatile it is.

I guess I like all kinds of blocks. Must be way I'm working on the DJ quilt.

Hi
I've just discovered English paper piecing. Those little hexagons are so addictive. They grow so rapidly and they use up lots of left over fabric.

My favorite block is any one I'm working on but I do like traditional blocks, log cabin, pin wheel.

I have always love the Sunbonnet Sue and the Little Fisher Boys quilts. My mother made all 3 of her grandsons the Little Fisher Boys quilts. I love the colors in the fat quarters.

Lisa said...

I've always loved Ohio Star blocks, especially in miniature. I have dozens of photos of O.S. quilts in my "to-do" quilt book.

Kay Brand said...

Well... today my favorite block it the half square log cabin that Sharyn Craig did a book on several years ago. I just love how quick this block is. Every time you add a dark strip you have a completed block. (I think the book has just been reprinted) Of course my favorite block changes with the wind. A bundle of LQ shirtings would be great for my light in this block. Thanks for the chance to win them.

Nancy said...

Though question on what my favorite kind of quilt block is. I do like the log cabin, but I'm also really into the modern freestyle quilting. Thanks for the cute giveaway. I think shirting fabrics are darling and fun to work with.

My favorite quilt block is something my husband gave me to celebrate our five years together. He watercolored a "pattern" and named it the "five patch." It's basically a nine patch but the two outer edges are 3 squares long. So, three squares in the center and two long rectangles on the sides. I thought it was clever. I made a mini version of it the other day and it went together easily. :D

I love any block that includes a star! I am a new quilter but have enjoyed making a Courthouse Square Block and the proverbial Nine Patch. Choices are endless! I would love to be entered into the drawing. Thanks!

I love making 4-patches - I know they are simple, but I love making them! If I have a pile of scraps and can make 4-patches, I'm happy!

Ooooh, this is a hard one, but I think I have to say that I love half-square triangles, because there's no waste and you can use them in so many ways - to become other blocks, borders, whatever.

Sue Cahill said...

That is one difficult question but the answer is Sunbonnet Sue for me. She is my alter ego and I love to applique her somewhere on most of my quilts.

Depending on where you are from it's been called the Ducks foot in the mud, (somedays you step in it somedays you don't)and the block has been called the Hand of Friendship. I love the latest version called the Dancing Paw. Reminds me of dancing bear on Captain Kangaroo..... now I:m really showing my age!
