July Saturday Sampler Show and Tell
Kay is a
Saturday Sampler participant and she brought this great bag, she calls "Letties
Bag", I’m not sure of the pattern but we all loved the wonderful, cheery fabric
she chose.
Susan was
also at July’s Saturday Sampler and brought along this great quilt made with the
Vintage Postcard prints of motorcycles. These prints come in a variety of
pictures. Stop in and check them out. There are numerous small wall hangings on
display made from these prints.

SWEEP!!!
I bet the probability for this happening is minuscule which makes the sweeping win that much more WELL DESERVED.
P.S. aren't the ribbons super cute?

New Jersey Comes to Little Quilts
Sheila
and Sue are here on a field trip from New Jersey to visit their friend here in
Atlanta. They brought a huge Show & Tell with them that we know you’re
going to enjoy!
Sheila designs a lot of her own quilts using scraps. What a great way to use up a lot of dark strips.
: We loved this bright blue/yellow quilt – another great use of scraps.
The “crowning touch” on this Ocean Waves quilt is the two fish swimming in the middle!

Graduation Quilt 101
Ann’s niece, Clare, just graduated from Vet
School at UGA which seemed like the perfect occasion for a quilt! Ann brought
Clare in to pick out fabrics and we love the fabrics they chose! At Clare’s
request, Ann even mitered the corners. Wow! There’s a gift of love!

Just Judi Competition deadline coming soon
Doris from Alabama dropped of her entry
for the Just Judi competition. She said she's never done anything like this
before but wanted to participate . She's holding a. picture of the close up.
Unfortunately the full picture got a glare. It's a churn dash with a center
medallion. The photo on the left are blocks in the quilt.
Still time to drop off an entry at the store. Watch the blog for a parade of the entries we send in. We'll be mailing our entries next week Tuesday or Wednesday.

Jelly Roll Race - Custom
We helped Donna and cut yardage for her to make a jelly roll race quilt for a
niece. We cut 1/6 yd of 20 as she wanted an all pink quilt. She then cut the 2
1/2" strips at home and started sewing! Great job - even found the backing in
the sale section.

Amanda made this camo style quilt for for her grandson from a
Ying Yang pattern in a 2011 McCalls Quilting magazine. The center has a photo

Desert Island Quilting Part 2
When you forgot your square ruler, whatcha gonna do? Mary Ellen trimmed 6 1/2" and 9 1/2" squares with graph paper drawn to size!
" My son Chris, (aka Bubba- age 42) suggested I try the cutting board provided in the house we rented! It worked great... A lesson learned . If not near a quilt shop! Purchase from anywhere!
Mary Ellen doesn't know how to EQ-she resorted to graph paper - the old fashioned way to come up with a layout for 25 blocks to honor 25 years for Judie Rothermel designing fabrics for Marcus Bros.
Slowly they are getting seen into units. Check out the photo closely. You will see why "slowly". She is distracted by her reading material (HAHA)and playing with trucks.
More "desert island" quilting....
Ever tried to square up blocks without a square ruler? Mary Ellen forgot a
square ruler AND the cutting mat. Only ruler within at least 30 miles is a 3
1/2" x 18" creative grid she brought. Desert island quilting means working with
what you have! Graph paper is cut into 9 1/2" and 6 1/2" squares to use to trim
with!

Quilters will Quilt, no Matter What!
Guess what Mary Ellen forgot? On a weekend trip with her family to Gatlinburg
TN, she forgot her cutting mayt (HORRORS!)..has everything else to work on her "Just Judie"
entry! She's using old magazines for the cutting mat! No quilt shops in the area
or she'd be at one! Gotta get that entry done. Deadline July 31. Have you done
one yet....there's still time. Watch for her progress in future blogs!
VERY special wedding veil holder
a great grandmother's tea towel. She had it monogrammed and finished with
Grandma's vintage button. The back of the envelope has monograms with all
the daughter's and nieces in the family who have used the wedding veil at
their wedding. Her sister bought the lace veil in the 1960's not knowing
she herself would use it and all the girls in the family for their wedding
veil. What a beautiful tradition. Before Janet made the linen pockets the
veil was stored in a plastic bag! Yikes!

BIG nine patch wonder.
Judy made this taupe black and tan for her daughter-in-law. It's the
same
pattern as taught in the Quilting Ala Carte series here at the shop, which
Judy took last year. Next picture is the backing - she pieced with lots of
leftovers and she changed the half square triangle blocks in the top. She's
leaving it for us to machine quilt.

Tropical Stars....
Judy made this Hunter's star quilt for her daughter after she learned the
technique with the Hunter's Star ruler from Studio 180 Designs in the class here
at the shop. She made her blocks 8" and sashed the with Kona white so they
float. She selected the soft green for her backing. This ruler helps make
perfect blocks every time! Great job Judy!
