We love stars here at Little Quilts so we chose a great star pattern for our anniversary quilt and isn't the quilt even more gorgeous photographed at one of the libraries in New York...
Our Hunter Star quilt is 42" x 56" - a good throw size.
Making a Hunter's Star Quilt is easy using the Rapid Fire Hunter's Star Ruler by Studio 180 Designs! We began by dividing the fabrics into warm and cool colorways.
and cutting into the appropriate size pieces.
Following the easy directions with the Hunter's Star Ruler, we stitched these odd looking units.
After pressing, the units were subcut using the ruler, as shown.
Units were trimmed...
and when the blocks are stitched together, the stars just magically appear and they're perfect every time!
A large design wall will help with color placement of the blocks...
We used the left-over fabric to make a fabulous pieced stripe binding for the quilt. Different length strips were pieced together. For a wider binding to show on the front of the quilt we cut the strips
3 1/2" wide.

I was on a quilt retreat this past weekend. We visited a couple quilt shops and I was picking out some random fat quarters. My friends asked what I was buying them for and I said that my next project would be a hunter's star! So, yes, it's definitely on my bucket list!
Oh, I have, I have, and I just loved making it. I had a big bag of bonus half square triangles and turned them into a gorgeous Hunters Star piece. Then I successfully practiced some FMQ on it and am doubly pleased with the results. Your is gorgeous, so bright and cheery. You do Jaftex proud!

I took a class through my old guild that was a scrappy hunter star block, but it is nothing like this. I have wanted to make this style of Hunter Star for a long time! Will have to look in to the ruler set!

I bought a Hunter's Star kit somewhere and then found I needed the ruler. By the time I ordered and received the ruler ,I realized it was going to be more involved than I thought. Your Anniversary Star quilt is stunning! I was at a retreat a few years back and made a miniature scrappy Hunter's Star block which I made into a pincushion. After seeing this quilt in all it's glorious color, I definitely will reconsider making a full size quilt!
